Karim
Safari was born and raised in Algers, Algeria. Inspired his father,
Ahmed Safari, professional Boxing European Champion (1945), Karim Safari
took a keen interest in boxing and Judo at the age of 5. By the age
of 10 he won his first tournament and his talent was soon recognised
by the MCA club who saw his potential to become a champion. He continuously
won many boxing and judo tournaments. As soon as he reached the correct
age bracket; Karim was contacted by the
junior national team for boxing and judo. He fought his way straight
through to African (1984) and Mediterranean (1985) Champion. It was
then that he competed and became the World Champion for Judo in 1986.
Straight after his victory he travelled to Japan where he won his next
World Title. He wanted to expand his knowledge of martial arts and continued
on to Thailand where he connected with the martial art of Muay Thai,
his fascination soon lead him to join the team there, training for 5
years before competing in the national championship, and won 2 Grand
Prix and one title in the National Thai Championships.
At
the age of 17 he was then sponsored to compete with The French Team,
winning the Muay Thai European Championship 5 years in a row. He was
not stopping there, as he competed straight away to win the Muay Thai
World Championship for another 2 consecutive years.
His
fighting skills were in such demand by inspired fighters, that he then
began coaching as well as competiting. He then moved to Japan to bring
his fighting knowledge to a new level, he scooped up 2nd place in the
K1 championships and ultimately went straight on to win the Mixed Martial
Arts Title.
Karim
Safari had conquered all major martial arts that he wanted to, yet
still wanted more. Refusing to stop winning he chose to move to France
(1992) and pursue his ultimate goal, to attempt becoming the title holder
for Cage Fighting. He focused purely on training and conditioning for
the fight and walked out winning his first major title in martial arts,
World Cage Fighting Champion. He defended the title for one year.
On
completing his goals as a fighter he wanted to focus his attention on
setting up a martial arts business, coaching other fighters to achieve
their goals and dreams with the guidance of what he’d learnt as
a successful fighter and also began organising fights.
In
1996 he moved the business to the London UK, to expand and soon gained
high recognition. He had developed a successful martial arts school
purely through recognition and word of mouth. It wasn’t long before
he was being contact by TV, film, magazines and national newspapers
to feature his skills and knowledge as a professional martial arts expert.
Once
in England the WKO head hunted Karim Safari
to take charge of the English Team, which he did successfully did for
several years, however he knew deep down that his heart lay in developing
his own business and giving others the opportunity to achieve what he
had, and being able to take it to an international level.
He
has since coached many high profile celebrities, royalty and politicians
alongside coaching competing fighters to international level and guiding
them to become champions. His Kickboxing and Muay Thai school is popular
in London, teaching many different classes
to all age ranges. He keeps his training on a professional yet personalised
level and can be contacted directly for more information.
